We are so grateful to all of the companies who supported our World of Work Zone and, of course, our host of Allanians who spoke to and inspired our students. Our “A Future in…” webinar events, many of them hosted by Allanians were really well attended by all year groups.
Over 70 students joined the webinar A Future in Law, hosted by Allanian Jenny Wilkes (Class of 2013). We were so lucky that Jenny was able to join us online. Jenny recently started as a trainee solicitor with Womble Bond Dickinson, and had lots of tips and recommendations for budding law students, including visiting public galleries in court rooms to hear a range of different cases, and to regularly read the Law Society Gazette website for news and updates.

A Future in Medicine: Allanians Dr Andrew Moon (Class of 2004) and medical students Yunus Ali and Dan Brewer (Class of 2019) joined Year 7-13 students online to advise them about a future in medicine. They were incredibly positive during these challenging times of covid and gave so much useful advice.  A Year 10 student said: "The Future in Medicine online meeting was really informative and interesting; it was especially great as we could hear from different people who were at different stages of their career paths, and it really made me think that a career in medicine would be worthwhile. The talk definitely made me think more and more about the possibility of a career in medicine."

Allanian Barry Hopper (Class of 1987) works in Business Development at Lowes Financial Management. He has enjoyed a great career path in business and finance - corporate and personal financial services, at Natwest, British Airways, GE, Sage and Lowes. Barry used his wealth of experience to deliver an informative talk – A Future in Finance and Business - about careers within the finance and business sector.

As part of the Careers Week we invited St Thomas More language students to join the webinar A Future with Languages with Routes into Languages by Newcastle University. An enthusiastic and highly visual presentation by the university’s MFL ambassadors highlighted how far languages can take you.
