2010-2019: Reimagining the Junior School

Until the early 2010s, Junior School teaching was split between two sites, Linden School in Forest Hall and the Senior Schools in Fenham.

During the transition from the 2000s to the 2010s, the governors had turned their attention to the provision of a Junior School housed on one site with facilities and premises capable of adapting over the coming years and decades. They acquired the site of the Hunter’s Moor Hospital in Spittal Tongues and building work began in earnest.

In 2012 the new Junior School and Nursery was opened. This, alongside the new tennis facilities on the main site, enabled the sale of the Forest Hall Junior School and a small yard at the north east corner of the field. Through the generous support of the Reece Foundation, classrooms 1 to 4 in the Girls’ School were extended at the rear and transformed into the state-of-the-art Alan Reece Technology Centre.
