Comedy writer and former Dame Allan's pupil Lizzy Mansfield’s play ‘Supernova’ is going on a national tour. After reaching the final of Hope Mill Theatre’s 'Through the Mill' playwriting competition, Lizzy's script was picked up for a run at London’s Theatre503, and then secured Arts Council Funding for a national tour.
'Supernova' is an intimate story about love, grief and physics, inspired by Lizzy’s own experience as a physicist. She left Dame Allan's to study physics and philosophy at Oxford University, graduating in 2016 to pursue a career in the film industry. She has worked on a host of TV and film productions for major companies such as Netflix, Amazon Studios, Disney UK, ITV, Channel 4 and the BBC and is currently the Writers’ Assistant on the Emmy-Winning AppleTV+ Comedy Ted Lasso. Lizzy has also directed several award-winning short films, including the super-8 film ‘An Inorganic Love Story’ which premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 2019 and reached the final of the 2020 Funny Women Awards.
After a sell-out run in London, Supernova will tour to Oxford's Old Fire Station on the 6th - 7th July, before heading to the Durham Assembly Rooms Theatre on the 11th and 12th July, and then Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake on the 13th - 16th July. The play stars Adeola Yemitan and Emilio Iannucci. It is directed by Offie-nominated director Fay Lomas and produced by Adam Goodbody.
