PUPILS at one of the North’s oldest independent schools were celebrating their excellent GCSE results today after showing their determination to succeed throughout the pandemic.
More than 70 per cent of exams sat by pupils at Dame Allan’s Schools, in Newcastle, achieved grades 9 – 7 (A* to A) while just over 50 per cent were 9-8 grades. The overall pass rate at the much-loved schools was 100 per cent.
Will Scott, Principal at Dame Allan’s said: “I’ve been so impressed by the way our pupils have stepped up to the challenge of their first public exams this summer when they’ve faced much disruption and uncertainty in their lives over the course of their GCSE studies.
“After a pandemic hiatus of two years, the return to exams has been welcomed by pupils and staff as an opportunity for our young people to show what they can do. The results bear out their optimism and determination to succeed. They provide a firm foundation for our pupils to move on to study a wide range of A Levels at Dame Allan’s, as they begin to form their thoughts on university applications and careers beyond - my congratulations to them all!
