PUPILS at one of the North’s oldest independent schools were celebrating an outstanding set of A Level results today.
More than 55 per cent of exams sat by Dame Allan’s pupils achieved the coveted A grades, while nearly 85 per cent were A* to B grades. Out of the 115 A Level candidates, nine were awarded all A*s and 37 achieved all A* or A grades.
Will Scott, Principal at Dame Allan’s said: “It’s been good to get back to proper exams this year and it’s been impressive to see the manner in which Dame Allan’s pupils have taken these exams in their stride, especially having not sat GCSEs in 2020 and facing such disruption since then.
“These A Level results are the fruits of the labours of our young people, as focused and determined as they have been, and those of their teachers who have been so committed to providing their needs for continuity, inspiration and care. I’m so pleased that even in this uncertain higher education market our pupils have been ambitious in making their choices, achieving their goals as they move on from us today - my congratulations to them all!”
Dame Allan’s Schools operates a diamond structure of education, unique to the North-East, whereby it co-educates pupils in the Junior School and Sixth Form, while teaching boys and girls separately between the ages of 11 and 16.
